  • Why Did President Murmu Offer Dahi-Cheeni To Nirmala Sitharaman Before Budget 2025

Union Budget 2025: Dahi Cheeni (curd and sugar) holds significant cultural and religious importance in Indian traditions.

Hours before delivering the Union Budget 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with her team, visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan. In keeping with tradition, President Droupadi Murmu offered her dahi-cheeni (curd and sugar). The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the President shared pictures from the visit, capturing a warm moment where President Murmu, smiling, fed a spoonful of dahi-cheeni to Ms Sitharaman. Later, the Finance Minister also posed for photographs with delegates.

    Significance Of Dahi Cheeni

Dahi Cheeni (curd and sugar) holds significant cultural and religious importance in Indian traditions. It is often seen as a symbol of blessings, as it is believed to bring sweetness and positivity into life. The combination is commonly offered during festivals or important events to invite good fortune, prosperity, and harmony. In religious rituals, especially when starting a new venture or celebrating milestones, people consume or offer Dahi Cheeni to seek blessings for success and happiness. It is also a customary offering during occasions like weddings or births, symbolizing the beginning of something sweet and prosperous.

  • “I Feel Drained, Disconnected”: Indian Employee On Facing Workplace Taunts After Europe Trip

The woman said that the sarcastic remarks from her colleagues left her “drained and depressed”.

In recent months, Reddit has become a popular platform for employees to share their job struggles and workplace concerns. Several subreddits have emerged where employees anonymously share their stories and also connect with others who face similar challenges. Now, an employee sparked a discussion online about Indian work culture after claiming that she faced passive-aggressive behaviour from her colleagues after returning from her Europe trip. In her post, titled “Just came back from Europe and I’m genuinely questioning what we’re doing in Indian workplaces”, the woman said that the sarcastic remarks from her colleagues left her “drained and depressed”.

“I land back in India. I go to the office, feeling refreshed, smiling and instantly, the HR gives me that look. ‘Aaj toh madam Europe se time mil gaya?’ Another colleague chimes in: ‘Bas ghoom lo, kaam toh yahin karna hai na.’ All in that taunting, passive-aggressive tone we’ve mastered here,” the woman wrote.

In the following lines, she claimed that she returned to over 200 unread emails, urgent messages and unplanned late-night meetings. “And the worst part? We glorify this. We wear burnout like a badge of honour. We think rest = laziness. If you take time off, you’re ‘not serious about your career,’” she continued.

The woman further said that the whole situation left her feeling “drained, disconnected and low-key depressed”. “It’s like Europe reminded me what being human feels like and coming back here reminded me what being a corporate robot feels like,” she wrote, concluding her post.Since being shared, the post has gone viral, sparking a discussion about India’s work culture.

“I am also in one of those teams wherein they chant “work is prayer” type slogans. I can totally relate to you, there are a lot of people I know working in the EU, and they mention the relaxed attitude and respect towards employees’ culture. I feel sad, but can’t do anything, cause for 90% of roles, if you resent/rebel against such a toxic environment and work culture, there are thousands who will replace you tomorrow, especially in the current market,” wrote one user.

“Been there… Seen that… Problem is we have too many people. The capitalist overlords know if we don’t do gadha majdoori, someone else will do it and probably for lesser compensation,” commented another.

“This is because Europe is a rich place, and if a country is rich, it takes good care of its citizens. India is a poor country, and all we have to offer to the world is our cheap labour, which is, believe me, heavily exploited here,” wrote a third user.

“The problem is that the same European people take us for granted and make us work extra hours while travelling daily in worse conditions,” expressed one user.

  • Met Gala 2025: Why Diljit Dosanjh’s Team Was Denied Maharaja Of Patiala’s Cartier Necklace To Complete His Look

Diljit also carried a lion-headed, jewel-studded kirpan (sword)

Bringing Punjabi pride and royalty to Hollywood’s biggest fashion event, the Met Gala 2025, singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh won hearts as he walked the iconic stairs of the Metropolitan Museum wearing a turban (a symbol of Sikh identity), a kurta and a tehmat (a log tunic and draped bottoms).

To pay tribute to Sir Bhupinder Singh, the early 20th-century Maharaja of Patiala, Diljit’s team revealed that they wanted to bring the homage closer by actually wearing the Maharaja’s personal jewellery, but they were denied, as reported by The New York Times.

In 1928, the prince commissioned Cartier to make him a 1,000-carat diamond necklace—the largest necklace the French jeweller had ever made.

In an interview with The New York Times, Ms Devnani said that they tried to borrow that iconic Cartier necklace—a 1,000-carat diamond necklace made for the Maharaja of Patiala for the Met Gala night, to complete Diljit’s look.

However, they were denied as it sits sealed in a museum, so she commissioned the Indian jeweller Golecha to create jewellery inspired by the prince’s collection, including a turban brooch.

Despite the absence of the iconic Cartier necklace, the singer elevated his traditional look with a jewel-studded turban and a layered diamond necklace by Golecha’s Jewels.

Diljit also carried a lion-headed, jewel-studded kirpan (sword).

Hours after marking his iconic presence at Met Gala, Diljit took to Instagram and proudly flaunted his Punjabi culture, writing, “Main Hoon Punjab, #metgala. Inspired by the theme of Black Dandyism, I bring my turban, my culture, and my mother tongue “Punjabi ” to The MET GALA.

Apart from Diljit, the Indian stars who were present at the Met Gala this year were Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, Isha Ambani, Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, and Mona Patel.
